Finding music to accompany videos is a challenge for creators

There is a great deal of trial and error involved in finding the perfect audio for a given video clip. Storyblocks' data science team addressed this challenge by creating a cross asset pairing algorithm, which suggests music tracks that might complement a given video clip.

Initially, the "Recommended Music" feature was added to each video card with a music button that opened a drawer of suggested audio tracks. However, downloads were lower than expected due to low awareness. Users primarily interacted with the download button and moved on with their workflow, neglecting the other features on the video card.

The original video cards lacked clear information hierarchy

Looking at the previous video card design, it’s clear that there are a lot of possible actions and no clear hierarchy. They all appear on hover, and look the same. Users just defaulted to the action most relevant to their workflow - download - and didn’t explore the other ones.
